The Artist, Michel Hazanavicius’ celebration of early Hollywood, tells the story of silent movie star George Valentin (Jean Dujardin, OSS 117) whose career is in crisis thanks to the introduction of sound. However, when he encounters Peppy Miller (Bérénice Bejo) he sees in the young starlet hope for the future. Like Singin' in the Rain, The Artist hilariously recreates Hollywood’s golden age. The result is a breathtaking love letter to the halcyon days of Tinseltown.
